Kia ora koutou,

We hope you had a restful holiday and look forward to welcoming you to the Gallery. Our only Covid Protection requirements are that you keep a distance of at least 1 metre from others and everyone aged 12+ (and all ākonga working in the Taupuni Mahi Studio) wears a mask. So, haere mai!

We’ve exciting exhibitions throughout hōtaki winter and into kōanga spring with a range of programmes, including a new Outreach programme and new bespoke programmes for ECE, Secondary and Tertiary groups that relate exhibitions to your specific teaching and learning foci. We look forward to your booking enquiries for Terms 3 and 4.

All ECE, Primary, Secondary and Tertiary programmes are FREE
, while entry to ticketed shows is discounted to $10pp for booked education groups with some complimentary tickets available. Please enquire about these when making your booking, and about how we can help with transport costs for your school or kura, should these present a barrier to your visit.

If you would like a Gallery kaiārahi to support your group’s learning in te reo and te ao Māori, please make a note in your enquiry.

Current educational programmes
Early Childhood Education | Ages 25

Book our 90-minute educator-led Mini Gallery Explorers programme and/or self-guide through the Gallery. Our Mini Gallery Explorers programme provides tamariki with opportunities to enjoy, engage with and creatively respond to art and architecture through lively kōrero, a scavenger hunt and creative activities.
Primary Education | Years 06; NZC L1–4

Our two-hour educator-led programmes enable Primary-aged tamariki to explore, engage with and respond to the Gallery’s exhibitions. Ngā ākonga’s intuitive responses to multimedia artworks – including video, sculpture, photography and painting – are starting points for deepening understanding and appreciation of creative processes, works and ideas, facilitated by our skilled educators.
Secondary Education | Years 713; NZC L4–8

Through educator-led programmes across all learning areas, our skilled team facilitates student-led responses to artworks to deepen appreciation and understanding of art and its contexts and ideas. Exploring connections between style, media, processes, contexts, meanings and personal responses, ākonga will develop and practise critical and creative thinking, while enjoying new experiences and insights.
Tertiary Education

We offer a range of Tertiary programmes, as well as the opportunity for our experienced art educators to work with you to design an enriching visit for your ākonga, supporting critical thinking and creative responses, while achieving learning objectives across a range of disciplines.
Exhibition-related learning
We’ve exhibitions to inspire ākonga of all ages this hōtake winter and will work with you where possible to develop a bespoke programme to best suit your learning areas and outcomes.

We’ll provide your ākonga with authentic, hands-on/minds-on learning experiences that complement the New Zealand Curriculum, Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, and Te Whāriki and enrich your local curriculum (ELC).
